How to read it
Written as it is spoken
Like Estonian and German, Latinized Egyptian has one rule: every letter always sounds the same, and what you hear is what you write.

Long vowels are doubled
A held vowel is written twice: kalaam (speech), nuur (light), yoom (day).

Doubled consonants are held
A doubled consonant is pronounced longer, as in Italian: sokkar (sugar), quwwa (strength).

The article follows the ear
The article el changes with the next sound, exactly as it is spoken: elbeet (the house), eššams (the sun).
